WHIMGARDEN

When I was roughly five, my parents set me loose on some pencils and paper. I started producing trees, flowers, and stick-figure horses, not caring about technique or values or anything along those lines. I was just happy to be making something that reflected what I saw of the world and enjoying this new ability I had discovered. These days, I gleefully and meticulously devise cityscapes in graphite, knowing their longevity is finite but doing it anyway because it is my favorite (and oldest) tool.

Through this space, I hope to meet others who likewise design for fun and those who appreciate our dreams. I want to encourage closet creatives to step out and explore the "something" that's been calling them, to move away from the concerns and fears prevalent in those who do imaginative work.

My style isn't any definable type — I have many and prefer it that way. I'm here to create. I want to share in images and words and seek others who do the same. Feel free to drop me a line through the form below or via any of my socials; I'd love to hear from you.

  • If I can make something out of it, and want to, I will. I can’t always guarantee it will be pretty though. I’ll spare you pics.

Usually (and perhaps a little more humbly) I’m working with Staedler graphite, Tombow ink, Arches paper for watercolor and Canson paper for everything else. Watercolors currently come from Daniel Smith (local company yay!) and Sennelier.

  • My trusty new HUION KAMVAS 13 has given me a renewed lease on my digital art life. 💚

Krita is my painting and digital editing program of choice.

I’m using a Canon Pixma Pro-200 to print, and an Epson Perfection V600 to scan my traditional works.

  • Blue! No. YELLOWWWWW. (Okay, if you don’t get that old joke, don’t worry. If you do, YAY!)

Blue actually is a favorite color, as is green and grey and… oops. It’s all. All colors. Rainbow.

Art is standing with one hand extended into the universe and one hand extended into the world, and letting ourselves be a conduit for passing energy.
